Ram Clan Flooring delivers professional luxury vinyl plank installations designed for durability, comfort, and modern living. LVP is a versatile flooring solution that offers the appearance of hardwood with enhanced resistance to moisture, wear, and everyday use. Our installations are carefully planned and executed to ensure clean lines, proper spacing, and long-term performance across a wide range of residential spaces.
Luxury Vinyl Plank Subfloor Preparation & Moisture Protection
Subfloor Evaluation Comes First
Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) performs best when it’s installed over a surface that’s clean, flat, stable, and properly protected from moisture. At Ram Clan Flooring, we treat preparation and moisture control as the foundation of the entire project—because most LVP issues don’t start on the surface, they start beneath it.
Before installation begins, we evaluate what your floor is being installed over, including concrete slabs, wood subfloors, or existing flooring that must be removed. Each surface behaves differently and must be prepared accordingly to support a stable, long-lasting installation.
Concrete Slabs, Condensation, and “Sweating” Floors
Concrete slabs are one of the most common subfloors for LVP installations, and they require special consideration. While concrete doesn’t technically “sweat,” it can collect moisture through condensation when warm, humid air meets a cooler slab surface.
This is similar to moisture forming on a cold beverage. In addition, concrete can transmit moisture vapor upward from the ground over time—even when the surface appears dry. These conditions are common in basements, slab-on-grade homes, and during seasonal temperature changes.
Moisture Barriers & Vapor Protection
To protect the flooring system, we install appropriate moisture and vapor barriers when conditions require it. These barriers help isolate the LVP from moisture exposure that could otherwise contribute to plank movement, joint stress, or long-term performance issues.
Proper moisture protection is especially important for slab installations and engineered flooring systems, where condensation and vapor transmission can affect stability long after installation is complete.
Why This Is Best Left to Professionals
What makes an LVP floor successful isn’t just the product—it’s the system behind it. Proper evaluation, preparation, moisture protection, and expansion planning are what separate a floor that simply looks good from one that performs reliably for years. By addressing these factors before installation begins, Ram Clan Flooring ensures your LVP floor is built on a solid foundation, minimizing future issues and delivering a clean, stable, and durable result.

What buckling can look like for a floor with improper vapor barrier installation or the complete lack thereof
(And or lack of expansion gaps to accommodate temperature change)

Proper Vapor Barrier installation can prevent headaches in the future
(Proper Vapor barrier installation can prevent mold and mildew from growing beneath floors, which can be harmful to inhale. its easy to install and allows installation in even the most humid areas in a household, such as basements.)

1/4in-1/2in Expansion Gap Requirements
LVP expands and contracts in response to changes in temperature and humidity. Sun exposure, indoor climate changes, and seasonal shifts all play a role in how the floor behaves over time. Ram Clan Flooring builds a controlled expansion gap—typically between 1/4" and 1/2"—around the perimeter of every installation and at fixed vertical surfaces. This space allows the floor to move freely without creating pressure that could lead to buckling, gapping, or joint failure.

Proper Self-Leveling Techniques
Although LVP is durable, it is not designed to correct uneven floors. Subfloors with dips, humps, or movement can cause planks to flex under foot traffic, placing unnecessary stress on locking systems. Without proper preparation, this can lead to clicking noises, joint fatigue, plank separation, or visible waviness in the finished floor. Proper leveling and stabilization ensure the floor feels solid underfoot and performs as intended over time.

Luxury Vinyl Plank Installation Process
Installation Designed Around Performance
At Ram Clan Flooring, luxury vinyl plank installation is approached as a controlled, methodical process rather than a simple surface upgrade. Vinyl flooring is an engineered system, and its long-term performance depends on correct product selection, proper layout, and precise installation. We install Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP), WPC (Wood Plastic Composite), and SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) flooring systems, applying the appropriate installation method—click-lock or glue-down—based on the product specifications, subfloor conditions, and performance requirements of the space.
Understanding the difference
Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) is a broad category of vinyl flooring designed to replicate the look of natural wood while offering enhanced durability and moisture resistance. It is available in both floating click-lock systems and glue-down applications, making it a versatile option for many residential and commercial environments.
WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) features a thicker, more cushioned core that provides added comfort underfoot and improved sound absorption. Its rigidity allows it to bridge minor subfloor imperfections more easily than traditional vinyl, making it a popular choice in residential spaces. WPC products are commonly installed as click-lock floating floors, though glue-down options also exist depending on the manufacturer.
SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) uses a dense, stone-based core that delivers exceptional rigidity and dimensional stability. This makes SPC highly resistant to temperature changes, expansion, and impact. It is often selected for high-traffic areas, commercial settings, or spaces exposed to fluctuating conditions. SPC is available in both click-lock and glue-down systems and requires precise preparation due to its rigid nature.
Laying Plank
Precision Layout & Directional Planning
Plank orientation is carefully planned based on room dimensions, lighting, and traffic flow to create visual balance and continuity. Layout planning helps avoid narrow cuts along walls and doorways, resulting in a cleaner, more refined finished appearance throughout connected spaces.
Transitions, Doorways & Fixed Objects
Special attention is given to transitions, doorways, and fixed vertical surfaces. Floating systems are installed with proper expansion allowances, while glue-down systems are detailed for seamless continuity. Transitions are installed where flooring materials or elevations change, ensuring smooth movement and a finished look.
Consistency, Control & Quality Standards
Throughout installation, alignment, spacing, and progression are carefully controlled to maintain a uniform surface. By understanding the differences between LVP, WPC, and SPC—and between click-lock and glue-down systems—Ram Clan Flooring delivers vinyl flooring installations that are visually refined, structurally sound, and built for long-term performance.
LVP Finishing & Final Details
The Importance of Proper Finishing
A luxury vinyl plank floor is only truly complete once the finishing details are installed correctly. While the planks themselves create the surface, it’s the trim work and final detailing that protect the system, conceal expansion gaps, and give the floor a clean, intentional appearance.
At Ram Clan Flooring, we treat finishing as an essential part of the installation—not an afterthought—ensuring the floor performs correctly while looking refined and complete.
Expansion Gap Protection & System Integrity
-The expansion gap left during installation is a critical component of the LVP system. While hidden after finishing, this space allows the floor to expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity without creating stress within the planks.
-By properly covering this gap with trim—rather than restricting it—the flooring system remains free to move as designed, reducing the risk of buckling, gapping, or joint separation over time.
Baseboard Installation & Trim Options
-We offer full baseboard installation using the style selected by the client, allowing the finished floor to blend seamlessly with the home’s design. Baseboards provide a clean visual transition between the flooring and walls while helping protect wall surfaces from daily wear.
-To properly cover the expansion gap required for LVP flooring, we install either quarter round or shoe molding, depending on client preference and the overall look of the space. These trim pieces allow the floor to move naturally while maintaining a polished edge along all walls and fixed vertical surfaces.
Clean Caulking & Seamless Transitions
-All trim work is finished with clean, sleek caulking using either white or color-matched materials to blend naturally with the baseboards and surrounding finishes. This final step softens transitions, closes small visual gaps, and delivers a refined, cohesive look throughout the space.
-Careful attention is also given to transitions between rooms, doorways, and adjacent flooring materials, ensuring functionality, movement allowance, and visual continuity are all maintained.
